Final Checks is dedicated to ensuring every shoot is a safe working environment, as all crew members deserve to return home safely after cameras have wrapped.

Our Safety Officers are here to help achieve that outcome, because safety is everyone’s gain.

  • Pre-production and recces are an important part of the production process, especially for Health and Safety in film. We bring years of industry specific experience and the following qualifications that aid us in producing high quality, detailed and professional JSAs as well Safety Manuals, Inductions, COVID Guidelines and whatever other documentation you might require.

  • Our team includes registered nurses, paramedics, and emergency first responders.

    Our safety team are trained to deal with complex injuries before paramedics arrive, or provide minor first aid, and manage all the issues that filming long hours entails.

  • Heights create risks, that’s why it’s high time we manage them. We hold qualifications for working safely from heights including:.

    - Outdoor Climbing Instructors/Mountaineers

    - EWPs + - WTR and F Endorsements

  • When filming around and in water, it is important that crews are prepared for all eventualities. As well as piloting boats, we also have qualified rescue divers and can provide support for open seas, white water, and inland bodies of water, whether it's simple action or complex boat/stunt sequences. Or we're happy to provide the Sea Legs and ginger pills if that's all that's required.

  • With our experience in stunt and event rigging, and mountaineering we have the skills necessary to oversee and supervise safe rigs for your production.

    We can set up rigging to secure crew at height, on tracking vehicles, equipment, etc.

  • Everyone deserves to come into a professional work environment feeling safe and respected.

    We embrace a respectful, professional culture on and off set and fully support SWAG and their Professional Respect in the Workplace training. Our Safety Officers encourage the creation and distribution of diverse cultural expressions in the film industry.

    Using a wide range of specialists skills, we can cater to almost any requirements a production has.

  • On road, off road, on water, on horseback, our team have many different skills to suit your needs.

    It's not just cars and bikes, we've been asked to use a variety of vehicles like golf carts, jet skis, and wooden carriages to create the perfect stunt.

  • Stunt action has changed significantly in the last few years with a bigger focus on rigs to make action more impactful.

    Through using intelligent rig design, rigorous safety standards, and highly experienced performers, we can create the perfect rig for your production.

  • If you want to set someone on fire and then do it again. And again. And again. We can do that.

    Fire burns are exciting and we can make sure you get what you need and get it done safely.

  • One of our specialties - we have extensive experience orchestrating complex underwater sequences as well as training actors to get the most out of their performance.

About Us

Final Checks specialises in Health and Safety and Stunt work in the film and television industry. Final Checks also provides H&S Consultancy outside of the industry through in Construction and Manufacturing.

After starting his career in the film industry in the UK back in 2010, working on projects like Edge of Tomorrow and Guardians of the Galaxy, Rob McKenzie decided to spend a year in NZ for a change of scenery. He fell in love with the country, the people, and the culture and decided to stay, first working as a contractor and then founding Final Checks in 2017. Since then, the Final Checks team has steadily grown, adding a number of different specialists to the team, and have provided their services to hundreds of productions ranging from feature films, TV Series, and commercials.

We have a firm belief that every film crew member deserves to come to a safe working environment and get home safely after cameras have wrapped because safety is everyone’s gain! With an outstanding track record, our highly experienced Safety Officers, Safety Managers/Supervisors are here to help with that mission.

Our company also specialises in stunt work. We are passionate about bringing your visions to life in the form of professional performances that range from fighting, fire burns, vehicle handling, to rigging.
